The primary basic processes of stamping are blanking, punching, zigzag and deep drawing.
(1) blanking and punching blanking and punching are processes to separate the blank.
The process of blanking and punching is completely the same except for different purposes. When blanking, the separated part is the product, and the rest of the surrounding is the waste; punching is to obtain holes, the punched plate is the product, and the separated part is the waste. Blanking and punching are collectively referred to as blanking. The punch and die of the blanking die have sharp edges, and there is a gap of 5% - 10% of the plate thickness between the punch and the die, so as to ensure that the cutting is neat and less burr.
(2) the twists and turns are to make the workpiece obtain various bending angles of different shapes. The operation part on the zigzag die that makes the workpiece zigzag shall have a proper fillet radius r to prevent the workpiece from cracking when zigzag, as shown in Figure 3-22.
(3) drawing: drawing is the processing process of making plate blank into cup-shaped or box shaped parts. The punch and die edge of the drawing die shall be rounded to prevent the workpiece from being pulled apart. The gap between punch and die should be a little larger than the thickness of sheet metal (generally 1.1-1.2 times the thickness of sheet metal), so as to reduce friction. In order to prevent wrinkles, the edge of the blank needs to be pressed by pressing plate (blank holder), as shown in Figure 3-23. Sheet metal stamping is a processing method to separate or deform sheet metal by using stamping die. In most cases, the sheet does not need to be heated, so it is also called cold stamping, or cold stamping for short.
The commonly used plates are low carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper and their alloys, which have high plasticity and low deformation resistance and are suitable for cold stamping.
Sheet metal stamping is easy to be mechanized and automated, with high production efficiency; stamping parts have accurate dimensions and good interchangeability; the surface is smooth and clean without machining; it is widely used in automobile, electrical appliances, appearance, aviation and other manufacturing industries.
Structure and working principle of punch
There are many types of punches, and the common open punches are shown in Figure 3-16. The motor 4 drives the large flywheel 9 to roll through the V-belt 10. When the pedal 12 is depressed, the clutch 8 makes the large flywheel connect with the crankshaft and rotate, and then the connecting rod 5 makes the slider 11 move up and down along the guide rail 2 in reciprocating motion for stamping. When the pedal is released, the clutch disengages and brake 6 immediately stops the crankshaft from rolling and stops the slider in the highest position.
